The Ulysses Club Arthritis Research Fund (UCARF) has two prestigious annual awards, the Jo Dearnley Memorial Award and the Good Joint Award.
The winner of the Jo Dearnley Award for 2016 is Whittlesea Branch.
Whittlesea Branch created and largely organised the Dearnley MZ Scorpion motorcycle raffle that has been extensively reported on in previous editions of Riding On. The raffle was a huge success and a great credit to the branch. The resulting donation to UCARF was a staggering $8,000.00 and the branch then followed up with another donation of $608.00 as a result of their Christmas in July event.

The winner of this award may be either a single small branch or a cluster of small branches.
The winner of the Good Joint Award for 2016 is Lockyer Branch.
Lockyer Branch unknowingly donated an exact amount of $8,000.00 to UCARF as did Whittlesea. The branch has a very impressive history in recent years of winning both the
Jo Dearnley Award and the Good Joint Award.
The Jo Dearnley Memorial Award was introduced as a perpetual shield to be awarded to the Ulysses Club branch which donates the most money to the club’s preferred charity (UCARF) during the previous calendar year.
The Good Joint Award is also a perpetual shield that was introduced to recognise the generosity of smaller Ulysses Club branches that due to their size are unable to compete in raising funds with larger branches.
The winner of this award may be either a single small branch or a cluster of small branches
That raises an impressive comparative amount of funds during the previous calendar year.
Congratulations to both branches for most deservedly winning their respective awards.
On behalf of the National Committee, the branches and members of the Ulysses Club and the recipient research institutions of Sutton Laboratories IBJR and Monash University I wish to thank Whittlesea and Lockyer branches for their most generous contributions.
